A distinctive international positioning
The findings presented during the event confirm that Costa Rica enjoys one of the strongest and most distinctive international reputations in Latin America among public opinion in the G7 countries.
With a Reputation Score of 52.3, Costa Rica stands 2.3 points above the average of the world’s 60 largest economies analyzed by RepCore Nations. Although Costa Rica is not included in the global ranking because it is not among the world’s 60 largest economies by GDP, its score would place it approximately between Poland and Morocco.
The analysis shows that Costa Rica’s international reputation is built on clearly recognized strengths, including sustainability, quality of life, environmental protection, action against climate change, safety and the friendliness of its people.
It also identifies opportunities to further strengthen the country’s international positioning in areas such as technological development, the international recognition of its companies and brands, the quality of its education system and its cultural heritage.
Compared with the main Latin American economies, Costa Rica scores above the regional average in 21 of the 22 attributes measured by the RepCore Nations model. The only exception is sporting success, an anecdotal result within the broader set of attributes shaping a country’s international reputation.
These findings confirm that Costa Rica has built a particularly strong reputation platform to support its international competitiveness and its strategies to attract investment, tourism and new business opportunities.
RepCore Nations, now in its fifth edition, has established itself as the leading tool for analyzing country reputation and supporting governments and promotion agencies in the strategic management of their international positioning.
Reputation Lab would like to thank PROCOMER and Agencia Interamericana, its partner in Costa Rica, for their collaboration in organizing this event.
